Hot-Dipped Galvanized Steel Sheet
Surface Treatments
We offer our customers a variety of in-line chemical and mechanical surface treatments upon request. Chemical treatments provide additional protection against corrosion, while mechanical treatments can improve surface and internal properties.
Chemical Treatments
Permatreat 2510
Provides passivation with very good transit corrosion protection. Lubricity is suitable for roll forming. Product is generally not paintable, although it’s used in some limited painted applications. Contains hexavalent chromium.
Available at MetalTech, NexTech, and GalvTech. Tech Code “SFT”
Permatreat 1500
Paintable pretreatment with fair transit corrosion protection. Excellent for pre-painting and post-painting. Contains hexavalent chromium.
Available at NexTech and GalvTech. Tech Code “PRT”
Permatreat 2550
Removable. Oil substitute for prepaint. Does not contain any chromium. Good transit corrosion protection.
Available at NexTech and GalvTech. Tech Code “NCR”
Brugal GM4
Acrylic with very good corrosion protection. Lubricity is excellent. Suitable for significant forming and drawing applications. Fingerprint resistant. Contains hexavalent chromium.
Available at NexTech. Tech Code “ACR”
Gardo TP 10724
RoHS compliant. Non-hazardous chromium substitute for Permatreat 2510. Contains trivalent chromium. Good transit corrosion protection. Suitable for forming. Typically not paintable.
Available at MetalTech, NexTech, and GalvTech. Tech Code “RHC”
Mechanical Treatments
Temper Rolling
Provides surface conditioning to prepare product as a “skin pass” operation and does not affect gauge.
Available at NexTech and GalvTech.
Tension Leveling
Stretches coils lengthwise and edge to edge to achieve steel sheet that is flat and essentially free of internal stress.
Available NexTech and GalvTech.
Mechanical Leveling
Works the steel over a set of hardened rolls to achieve steel sheet that is flat and essentially free of internal stress.
Available at MetalTech.
