Dave DiNardo

Dave DiNardo

Dave was a start-up employee with The Techs. After a stint as an operator at LTV Steel’s tin mill in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania, he signed on with MetalTech in 1984. Dave was named manager of operations and maintenance at MetalTech in 1990 and joined sales in 1999. He was promoted to his current position in 2010. Dave earned a bachelor’s degree at the University of Pittsburgh. He and his wife, Paula, have two grown daughters, Christina and Jennifer. Dave’s an avid sports fan and likes golfing and jogging. In fact, he’s completed several marathons over the years.

Kasandra Lutzko

Product Manager-Metallic Coated Products
SDI Flat Roll Division/The Techs

Kasandra has served in various sales positions with The Techs since joining the company in 1997. Before taking on her current responsibilities, she was sales manager for house accounts. Kasandra earned a bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering from Kent State University and an MBA from Robert Morris University in Pittsburgh, her hometown. Kasandra enjoys playing golf, and she and her husband like to travel. Europe and Mexico have been on their itineraries.

Eileen James

Manager-Agency Sales
The Techs/SDI Flat Roll Division

Eileen joined The Techs in 1995 after a decade in finance and sales with National Steel Corporation. During her time with The Techs, she’s served in inside sales, outside sales, outside processing, and as materials manager. Eileen earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting at Robert Morris University in Pittsburgh, her hometown. Cycling and hiking are among Eileen’s off-the-clock activities. She and husband Bill also love to travel; Europe and the national parks of the American Southwest are favorite destinations.

Dave Palaski

Account Manager/Inside Sales Leader

Dave began his career in the steel industry as a production employee at NexTech right after he graduated from Pittsburgh’s Central Catholic High School in 1996. He joined the sales team in 2005. Dave has also gone back to school to earn a bachelor’s degree in business at Waynesburg University and an MBA at the University of Pittsburgh. When he’s not selling steel, Dave enjoys golf, hunting, fishing, camping, and long-distance running. Dave’s dad, another Dave, an exit end operator at MetalTech, has been with the company since 1988.

Larry Guerzon

Account Manager
The Techs

Larry had already built a solid career in sales with steel service centers in the Chicago area when he joined The Techs in 1996. A native of the Windy City, he studied business administration at Southern Illinois University and Northwestern. Larry and his wife, Sue, have a daughter, Dominique. Larry is a certified scuba diver, and he enjoys skiing. But he’s really in his element when he’s cruising down the highway on one of his two Harley-Davidsons.

Tim Spence

Account Manager
The Techs

Tim joined The Techs in 1996 after a stint as a plant supervisor for a commercial laundry company. A native of Pittsburgh, he earned a bachelor’s degree at the University of Pittsburgh and an MBA at Waynesburg University. Tim and his wife, Bethany, a registered nurse, have two children, Nathan and Natalie. Tim’s avocations include running, golf, fishing, and tearing around on dirt bikes.

Kellie Prola

Account Manager
The Techs/SDI Flat Roll Division

Kellie came to The Techs in 1996 after two years in sales with U.S. Steel. With the Techs, she’s served in both inside and outside sales positions. Kellie grew up in Greensburg, close to Pittsburgh. She earned a bachelor’s degree in economics at Millersville University in the heart of Pennsylvania Dutch country. Kellie’s leisure time is spent with her two boys, Conner and Caleb. She takes an active role at their school, participating in homeroom activities. She’s also involved in their sports and scouting throughout the year. Kellie also enjoys golf, cycling, and running.

Lori Hahn

Regional Sales Manager

Lori came to SDI during the construction of the flat-roll mill in 1995 and was part of the team led by John Nolan (now general manager of SDI’s Structural and Rail Division) that created the sales department. Lori got her start in the industry in 1979, working in personnel, administration, and sales at Nucor’s mill in Norfolk, Nebraska, her hometown and where she studied business at the local college. In 1988, she became part of the start-up team for Nucor’s mill in Crawfordsville, Indiana. Although she’s often on the road in her job, Lori still loves to travel during her rare leisure time.

Marc Krouse

Regional Sales Manager

Marc signed on with the Flat Roll Division in 2000, working in inside sales and excess and secondary sales until he was named regional sales manager in 2007. Before joining SDI, he was an accountant for a construction company based in Fort Wayne, his hometown. Marc earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting at Ball State University. He and his wife, Denise, have two daughters, Samantha and Allison, and summertime is family time at their lake cottage in northeast Indiana.

Syd Hughes

Regional Sales Manager

Syd joined SDI in 1998 after a 20-year career in supervision and sales in the aluminum industry. With the Flat Roll Division, he worked in inside sales, excess and secondary sales, and e-commerce before being named regional sales manager in 2005. Syd grew up in Brazil, Indiana, and earned a bachelor’s degree in business at Indiana State University in Terre Haute. He and his wife, Cathy, have two children, Matthew and Candace, and four grandchildren. In his spare time, Syd enjoys fly fishing, hunting, and golf.

Bill Soldano

American Industrial Management & Sales (AIMS), Northeast Inc

Bill joined AIMS in 1998, and became president and owner in 2008. Headquartered in Doylestown, Pennsylvania, AIMS sells for the Flat Roll Division and The Techs. Bill has nearly 30 years’ experience in the business. Before AIMS, he established a long, successful career in sales and marketing with steel-manufacturing companies and steel service centers. He grew up in Jamestown, New York, and played football and earned a bachelor’s degree in political science at Allegheny College in Meadville, Pennsylvania. Bill and his wife, Laura, have two children, Austin and Jackie. He enjoys golfing, hunting pheasant, and spending time with family and friends.

Laura Selb

American Industrial Management & Sales (AIMS), Northeast Inc.

Laura started out as an administrative assistant at AIMS in 1996, right after she graduated from Archbishop Wood High School in Warminster, Pennsylvania. She learned a lot about the steel-sales business from that vantage point before advancing to inside sales manager. She and her husband, George, have two children, Connor and Bridget. Laura’s favorite pastimes include spending time with family and friends, reading—and hiking, swimming, and kayaking at the family’s summer home in the Pocono Mountains.

Rick Ball

Commonwealth Metals Group Ltd.

Rick is president of Commonwealth Metals Group Ltd., the Chicago-based company he founded in 1985. Commonwealth sells for the Flat Roll Division and The Techs. Rick has worked for Alcoa, Republic Steel, and LTV Steel. At one time, he also started his own computer software company. A native of Rockford, Illinois, Rick earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering at the University of Illinois in Champaign and an MBA from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. He and his wife, Kathryn, have three children and four grandchildren. Rick’s an avid cyclist and snow skier.

Colby Howe

Coho Sales & Marketing

Colby is president of Coho Sales & Marketing, the company he founded in 1992. Based in Portland, Oregon, Coho sells products for all SDI divisions. Colby previously spent 11 years in sales and product management with Bethlehem Steel and was once president of three divisions within A.J. Gerrard. A northern California native, Colby earned a bachelor’s degree in social sciences at the University of Oregon. He and his wife, Lori, have four children, Marisa, Taryn, Maggie, and Nellie. Colby enjoys hunting and fishing and volunteer work, including a recent nine-year stint on the board of a social-service agency that serves homeless youth.

Colby Ramaker

Coho Sales & Marketing

Colby joined Coho in 2000 after two years with a metals-related business in Milwaukee. He represents the third generation—and the third Colby—in his family to work in the steel industry, including his grandfather Colby Howe Sr. and his uncle Colby Howe Jr., president and founder of Coho. Colby was born and spent his early years in Washington state. He graduated from high school in Wisconsin, and earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. He’s married to Jessica. Colby’s an avid reader and a military-history buff. He’s also a diehard Seattle Mariners fan and closely follows college sports.

Tim Demma

Coho Sales & Marketing

Tim joined Coho in 2008, but he’s been selling steel for SDI’s Pittsboro mill through his own Ohio-based company, Effective Marketing Solutions, since the mill’s start-up in 2003. Tim began in the industry with Bethlehem Steel in 1968, and he’s also served in sales and marketing management with Bliss and Laughlin and Republic Engineered Steel. He grew up in Redwood City, California, and graduated from California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo. He and his wife, Susan, have two daughters and five grandchildren. Their favorite pastimes are spending time with family and travel.

Gary Esposite

Metals Marketing

Gary had worked in sales and marketing with Youngstown Sheet and Tube and Usinor Steel (now part of ArcelorMittal) for 13 years when he founded Metals Marketing in 1984. With offices in Sylvania and Columbus, Ohio, Metals Marketing sells products for the Flat Roll Division and The Techs. Gary grew up in Youngstown, Ohio, and earned a bachelor’s degree in business at Youngstown State University. Gary is married to Tammy, and he has three grown children. When work allows it, Gary enjoys golf and fishing.

Cheryl Kronk

Metals Marketing

Cheryl’s been with Metals Marketing since 1989. Prior to that, she worked in banking. She grew up in Toledo, Ohio, and studied business at the University of Toledo. Cheryl and her husband, Jim, have three children, Kimmie, Christie, and Matthew. She enjoys spending time with family and friends,   watching sporting events, especially high school and college football, and playing coed softball.

Ken Rampolla

Ken is the president of RMI, the company he founded in 1990 after a career in sales and marketing with Bethlehem Steel. Headquartered in Hellertown, Pennsylvania, RMI also sells products for other SDI divisions. A New York City native, Ken earned a bachelor’s degree in economics and serves on the board of trustees at Moravian College in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. He and his wife, Anne, a Spanish professor at Lehigh University, also serve on boards for other organizations. They have two children, Liz and Kenny, who plans to join RMI after college. Ken and Anne are both avid golfers.

Mark Bisbing

Responsive Marketing Inc. (RMI)

Mark has been with RMI since 1995. He’d previously spent 11 years working in a variety of capacities with Bethlehem Steel. He grew up in Emmaus, Pennsylvania, and earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting and business at Muhlenberg College in nearby Allentown. Mark and his wife, Jane, have three children, Garrett, Lindsay, and Erin. Mark likes to get out on the links when he can, and he enjoys watching just about kind of sporting event.

Jim Hoppes

Jim joined RMI in 2003 after more than three decades in sales and marketing with Bethlehem Steel, Thypin Steel (now part of Ryerson Tull), and Metals USA. He grew up in Northampton, Pennsylvania, and earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting at Muhlenberg College in nearby Allentown. Jim and his wife, Donna, have a son, Chad, and four grandchildren. In addition to selling steel, Jim has served as a deputy wildlife conservation officer with the Pennsylvania Game Commission for nearly 40 years.

Andy Kametz

Responsive Marketing Inc. (RMI)

Andy joined RMI in 2004 after nearly 30 years with Bethlehem Steel and Levinson Steel (now Metals USA), during which he served in several capacities, including sales, purchasing, and customer service. A native of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, Andy earned a bachelor’s degree in business and economics at Moravian College in Bethlehem. He’s also earned a three-year Ferrous Metallurgical Certificate through Penn State. Andy and his wife, Donna, have three daughters, Kristin, Amy, and Jill. Away from work, Andy has two passions: he’s a fast-pitch softball umpire, and he hunts groundhogs from long range—his longest successful shot so far measured 366 yards.

David Stewarts

Dave has been with RMI since 1995 after nearly two decades in sales and customer service with Bethlehem Steel. Dave grew up in Allentown, Pennsylvania, and earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a minor in economics at Moravian College in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. He and his wife, Doris, have two daughters, Pamela and Christine. Dave recently hung up his cleats after 35 years of playing fast-pitch softball. He’s graduated to the more leisurely sport of golf, and he and the family like to get away from it all on the weekends in their travel trailer.

Elsie Thompson

As office manager and executive assistant, Elsie is likely to be your first point of contact at RMI, where she’s been working since 1993. She’d previously served in similar roles with Bethlehem Steel for two decades. She’s also a native of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Elsie and her husband, Robert, have two children, Brian and Lauren, and one grandchild. At home, Elsie enjoys gardening, cooking, and baking.

Penn Whitlow

Responsive Marketing Inc.

Penn joined RMI in 2006. He got his start in the industry in 1980 with Taubensee Steel & Wire in Wheeling, Illinois, and later was rod sales manager for Bethlehem Steel in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. Penn grew up in Davenport, Iowa, and earned a bachelor’s degree in history at DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana. Penn and his wife, Amy, have two sons, Penn and Sam. The boys are very involved in Scouting, and dad serves as a scout master. Penn’s other leisure activities include golf and winter sports.

Steel Solutions Inc.

Jim is president of Steel Solutions, the company he founded in 1998 and is based in Charleston, South Carolina. Jim began a 25-year stretch in sales and marketing with Bethlehem Steel in 1963 and later worked with Gallatin Steel and Nucor. Jim originally hails from Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, and graduated from Lycoming College in nearby Williamsport. He and his wife, Susanne, have four children and eight grandchildren. Jim’s leisure-time pursuits include golfing, fishing, and cycling.

Brian Smallwood

Brian was in outside sales with National Steel for nine years before founding Smallwood & Associates in 1990. Based just outside Nashville in Brentwood, Tennessee, Smallwood & Associates sells products for the Flat Roll Division and the Techs. Brian represents the fifth generation of his family to work in the steel industry. A native of Boston, Brian earned a bachelor’s degree in philosophy at Gordon College in Wenham, Massachusetts. He and his wife, Susan, were college sweethearts. They have four children, Jordan, Benjamin, Carly, and Abby. Brian enjoys golf and family travel.

Susan Langager

Smallwood & Associates

Susan joined Smallwood & Associates in 1996 after a stint in the music-publishing business. She sells products made by the Flat Roll Division and The Techs from the office on the road. Susan’s originally from Ocean City, New Jersey, but when she attended Vanderbilt University, she fell in love with the Nashville area and made it her home. Susan and her husband, John, have a son, David. She enjoys leisure time on the water: sailing, water skiing, and snorkeling.

Ron is president of Zumer & Associates, the company he founded in 1997 after 25 years in sales with Weirton Steel (and National Steel). Headquartered in Suwanee, Georgia, Zumer & Associates sells products for the Flat Roll Division and The Techs in the Southeast. Ron, a Pittsburgh-area native, earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration at West Liberty University in West Liberty, West Virginia. He and his wife, Janice, have a daughter, Kristi, and two grandchildren. When he’s off the clock, Ron enjoys playing golf and following professional, college, and local high school sports.
